Shivamogga: Connection with terrorists - NIA officials search Thirthahalli houses

Shivamogga, Mar 11: Police personnel attached to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches of the houses of two young man in Thirthahalli town on the suspicion of their connections with terrorist organizations. They also collected information from the parents of the young men.

The police arrived at the houses of these two men located near the fish market in the town. After conducting verification, they are said to have collected the mobile phones of the parents.

NIA police are keeping a close watch since a year on some areas of the town. After finding the satellite phone network of the satellite phone used by the terrorists, they had undertaken checks about a year ago. The suspicion is that the son of a former soldier from here, who was earlier in Bengaluru, has contacts with terrorist organizations. There were rumours that a close relative of the youth under reference was also identified as a member of a terrorist organization.

The parents shed tears when the police came for verification. The search continued for about three hours. The visiting police team also collected details of family members, their professions etc, said eyewitnesses.
