Bengaluru, Mar 10: Guidelines have already been issued to restrict large public gatherings at marriages and other functions. But there are no restrictions on inter-state travel, health and medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar said in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media persons, he said instructions are passed to hotels and marriage halls to take necessary steps to contain the infection from spreading. Precautionary guidelines have been issued in this regard.

"We have banned late-night parties because more people gather at that time. As there is a spike in the cases in neighbouring states, we have taken all the steps to restrain it from spreading here,’’ he said.

The minister said vaccination is being provided at 3,500 centres across the state, we have also increased the number of tests. He added.

Speaking on the media gag order, Dr Sudhakar said that media is the fourth pillar of the democratic system. The media should not telecast any objectionable content before verification.

It is the responsibility of the media to verify the authenticity of such content. There are various reasons behind the video including political conspiracy, said Dr Sudhakar.

Government or the Ministers shirk their responsibility by mere stating this statement. If covid is contained, it is their achievement.....if not people's fault.

Charlie baab, otherwise also most of the people are really careless and negligent...More than half of the people do not wear the mask....Out of the emaining crowd, half of them wear on the chin/neck like colorful necklace....Govt. cannot stand behind everyone and cane them if they do not follow the protocol. If they want to save their life/money/time etc every individual should take it as their duty and responsibility and follow the safety measures for his safety only...

Restrictions on large gatherings at marriages, functions but not travel,is welcome step. But what about political rallies, protests, electoral venues, farmers protest festivals, rituals at temples and other holy places.By sitting inside the air conditioner cabin and passing the orders do not serve the purpose. One should have the thorough knowledge about the situations, implications before passing any orders. If somebody wants to say "NO",don't say"YES" and vice versa. Restriction only on public, not on political parties. They can do whatever they want at their own whims and fancy, nobody can question them. They can play any dirty games without any fear. Now public is more alert than earlier and educated as well. They know their safety very well by maintaining their distance, wearing masks and by sanitising their hands. Is it possible to implement strictly, then it is OK,otherwise orders are of no use. See for example, restriction not on travel, why?.Can you come and see the gathering, crowd at all the bus and railway stations. Can anybody control them. One should study pro and cons before passing any orders.
