Things were not like this before. People had to block their noses before making use of the toilets or going near them in the past. But Mahantesh, who came as chief officer to the municipality here about a year back, changed everything. He dreamt of converting Tarikere into a beautiful town. His positive-minded plans received united support of engineers and civic workers. With their efforts, the toilets are maintained beautifully. With the clear aim of driving away a sense of inferiority complex the citizens have about the public toilets. Pictures were drawn on the toilet walls. With the joint efforts of the people, the municipality has won recognition as the cleanest municipality in the entire state. This municipality has been honoured with Open Defecation-free Plus certificate. To realise the Prime Minister's dream of Swachh Bharat, the officials of the municipality are getting full support from the workers. Tarikere deserves to be congratulated for changing the way public toilets are viewed in general.
