Bengaluru, Mar 9: Former Karnataka minister, S N Krishnaiah Setty, who held the Muzrai portfolio in the previous BJP government B S Yediyurappa, started supply of Gangajal for distribution in 3,700 Shiva temples belonging to the State Muzrai Department during the Mahashivaratri festival on March 11.
The supply of Gangajal commenced by astrologer and Vastu expert Anand Guruji from the Sri Kashi Vishwanath temple at Balepet in Bengaluru.
Krishnaiah Setty, had quit the BJP after being denied a party ticket in the previous election from his Malur assembly constituency in Kolar district to contest as an independent candidate and lost. He subsequently joined the Congress party. However, after the formation of the Yediyurappa led BJP government in the state in 2019, he returned to BJP.
He has been arranging supply of Gangajal to Shiva temples to mark the Mahashivaratri celebrations since the last 14 years.
As much as 40,000 litre of Gangajal have already been procured in trucks from Haridwar in Uttarakhand.
Vehicles carrying Gangajal in small and big cans are being despatched to the state’s Shiva temples in the districts under the control of the State Muzrai department. Each vehicle transports the cans of Gangajal to three districts each. Senior BJP leader P S Prakash, Dharma Soori and others were present at the start of the supply of Gangajal from the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Belepet in the city.
