Mangaluru, Mar 9: ‘Pilathachi Zadthi’ (The Trial of Pilate) drama was held at Mandd Sobhann as part of its 230th monthly repertory programme. Canara Communications Center director, Fr Richard D’Souza rang the bell and set the programme in motion. Mandd Sobhann office bearers Eric Ozario, Luvi Pinto and Kishore Fernandes accompanied him.
As Jesus Christ resurrected after being sentenced to death, the number of people believing in him increased and groups were formed among the Jews. There was a tussle among them. It was concluded that the wrong decision of Pilate was its cause and King Tiberius asked him to come to Rome for a trial. By the time Pilate reached Rome, Tiberius had died and King Kaligula decorated his place. Did the Pilate receive a reward or punishment in his trial?
The drama ‘The Pilate Verdict’ written by John Yark and John Cherry is translated to Konkani by St Joseph Seminary rector, Fr Rony Serrao. Arun Raj Rodrigues and Vikas Lasrado directed it. Elron Rodrigues provided music and Kingsley Nazareth provided the lighting.
Kalakul Repertory students Vikas, Sushmita, Ashel, Savita, Flavia, Sandeep, Sujaya, Jeevan, Vreetan and Romario acted in the drama.
