Mangaluru: Covid vaccination begins in 66 primary health centres

Mangaluru, Mar 9: The third phase of the coronavirus vaccination campaign is currently on. People have been responding well to the programme. From Monday, 66 primary health centres in Dakshina Kannada district began to provide Covishield vaccinations to the senior citizens and those aged above 45 with comorbidities.

Over 30 private hospitals in the district too started to vaccinate the people from Monday onward. This service will be available till March 19. By that time, a decision will be taken about the further phase of the vaccination programme, said district health officer Dr Ramachandra Bairy.

In the meanwhile, speaking after chairing the National Disaster Management Committee held on Monday at the office of the district deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V said that the check posts on Kerala and Maharashtra borders have been alerted to be careful. He said that the gram panchayat task forces have to keep an eye on those coming into the state from these two states and subject them to tests. He also said that instructions to appoint Marshalls at the rate of one Marshall each have been issued to create awareness about wearing of masks during wedding and other functions.

    We can get to know the nearest vaccination centers by entering the pin code in CoWin application. It clearly shows which centers are paid and which centers are free. We can register and also schedule appointments.
