Udupi: Police arrest two for drug peddling - Seize 2.2 kg ganja, mobile phones

Udupi, Mar 8: Udupi CEN police station PSI Narayana, honorary officer and staff upon definite information and after obtaining permission from the superintendent of police arrested two drug peddlers with ganja in their possession. The accused were looking for customers near the Vasudha Comforts area in Badagabettu at 9.30 am on Monday, March 8.

The arrested were Poornachandra Das (23), a native of Jagatsinghpur, Odisha, now residing in Badagubettu, Manipal. The other man arrested has been identified as Kamalu (28), a native of Nabarangpur, Odisha and currently residing near Lake View Bar, Manipal.

The police have seized over 2.20 kg of ganja, two mobile phones, a blue and ash coloured shoulder bag and 18 plastic bags. The cost of the confiscated ganja is about Rs 70,000 while the value of the two mobile phones is about Rs 9,000.

A case at the CEN police station under crime registration number -- 19/2019 under section 8(c), 20(b)(ii), (B) NDPS Act 1985 has been registered in this connection.
