Mumbai, Mar 8: The elections for the Chembur Karnataka Sangha that has been active in the service of educational and social sectors for the last seven decades were held at Vidyasagar school premises Ghatla village, Chembur on March 7.

Seven members filed nominations for the election of six members. The elections were held from morning till afternoon. Several members arrived and exercised their franchise.

Sudhaker H Anchan, Ashok Salian, Chandrashekar A Anchan, Gunaker H Hegde, Mohan S Kanchan and Vishwanath S Shenava contested as a party. Premanath S Salian contested as an independent.

Premanath S Salian lost the elections as he received very few votes. The remaining candidates were declared winners. Jaya A Shetty was the chief election officer. Ashok R Shetty and Raghu A Moly were the assistant election officers. President of the sangha, advocate H K Sudhaker Arate and other office bearers were present.

Annual meeting postponed:

The 65th annual meeting of the sangha that was scheduled for March 14 is postponed. The new date will be announced soon, as per sources.
