Panaji, Mar 8: Chief minister Pramod Sawant suggested students shift their focus from traditional courses and explore alternative career options.
"Only ten percent of parents will have the knowledge of career options for their kids, while 90 percent of parents do not have the knowledge about the careers their children can take up, and this is a fact," Sawant said stressing that teachers should take the responsibilities of shaping the future of the students.
"BA, BCom, BSc are not the only options. There are a lot of opportunities in defence, civil services etc," Sawant added. He said that the government should stress on career counselling. "When I asked some students what they wanted to study, one said MBBS, another said engineering and the third said either MBBS or engineering. This is the reason children should know about the career options available," Sawant said.
