Mar 7: Dakshina Kannada records 16 fresh corona cases, 30 new in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 7: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday March 7 recorded 16 new cases of novel coronavirus, while Udupi tally saw a rise by 30 fresh cases.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 5,80,676 samples have been tested so far, out of which 5,46,107 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 34,569, out of which only 225 are currently active.

As many as 14 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 33,604.

The total number of deaths due to coronavirus in the district is 740.

The district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 36,72,210 as fine in 35,657 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 3,75,946 samples have been tested so far, out of which 3,52,229 have turned out to be negative.

As many as 30 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 23,717, out of which 101 are currently active.

Three patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 23,426.

Out of 30 new patients, 29 are in home isolation while one is in COVID hospital.

Among the 30, as many as 26 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 21 of the 30 cases, Kundapur recorded two and Karkala seven.

The district has reported 190 deaths due to coronavirus so far.
