Bengaluru, Mar 6: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) administrator Gaurav Gupta on Saturday said the civic body was taking measures to vaccinate everyone in a phased manner.
"Starting next week vaccine will be made available in all primary health care centres, referral hospitals and private hospitals. Everyone would get the vaccine,’’ he said while interacting with citizens in the Basavangudi ward committee meeting on Saturday.
Some senior citizens at the meeting told the administrator that despite their excitement to get the Covid vaccine, they are forced to wait for days due to a paucity of information on how to get vaccinated and sought the administrator's help in obtaining the vaccine.
Members of the committee were informed about issues in the Basavanagudi ward such as sidewalk encroachment, maintenance of street lights, unauthorized parking at the roadside, CCTV installation, distribution of laptops under Kalyana scheme and Onti Mane Scheme among others.
The administrator said that there have been complaints from the public regarding the streetlights and in this regard, the maintenance of streetlights should be done properly.
He instructed the streetlight maintenance contractors to ensure the installation and maintenance of electric lights in parks is taken care of.
Responding to local residents' appeal to take measures against vegetable and fruit pushcart vendors who park illegally on sidewalks, the administrator instructed the officials from BBMP and the traffic department to look into this issue and clear the sidewalk wherever necessary.
Former mayor and former BBMP member BS Sathyanarayana, ward nodal officer Manjunath Reddy, officials from departments of police, BESCOM, water board, food supply, and ward committee members, as well as members of the public, were present at the meeting.
