Bantwal, Mar 6: In a strange incident reported from Navoor village within the limits of Bantwal rural police station, a woman killed her husband when in an angry mood and under the influence of liquor.
Sesappa Poojary (60), resident of Navoor Soora quarters was the victim of the incident. His wife, Umavathi (52) has been taken into custody by the police on the allegation of committing this murder. Umavathi is being interrogated now.
Sesappa, resident of Soora quarters in Navoor village was a coolie by profession. Almost on a daily basis the couple fought with each other, after getting drunk. On the night of March 3 too, a quarrel had broken out between the two. After the quarrel developed into a physical fight, the wife, in a moment of acute anger, had hit her husband with a sickle found at home. Sesappa suffered deep gash in his forehead. The couple's daughter, who was at home then, had intervened and stopped the fight.
Even though the injury on the right side of the forehead remained fresh and blood oozed out of it, Poojary had not visited a doctor for treatment. He remained at home. He claimed that he was feeling sick because of the blood flow from the injury and slept at home. On the evening of March 5, he breathed his last.
On the allegation of killing her husband, Umavathi was arrested under an operation launched under the leadership of Bantwal rural circle inspector T D Nagaraj, by Bantwal rural sub-inspector Prasanna. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
