Mangaluru, Mar 5: For the third time in the last two months, a ragging case has been reported from within the commissionerate jurisdiction. In this case, ragging was reported from a private college near Surathkal. The principal of the college who expressed himself against the menace of ragging, was reportedly attacked. The police have arrested four students in this respect.
Third year engineering students, Muhammed Bazil, Sambhram Alva, K U Samil and Ashwin S Johnson are the arrested students.
Junior students had told the principal about having been subjected to ragging by their seniors in the college. The principal had summoned the four students involved with ragging, and given them advice to desist from such things. He also warned them of debarring them from the college if such incidents recur. At that time, the students reportedly attacked the principal.
A complaint of attacking the principal and ragging was filed at Surathkal police station against the said students.
