Karkala: Retired ISRO scientist accidentally slips, drowns in Swarna river

Karkala, Mar 4: A retired Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO) scientist died after he accidentally slipped and drowned in a river.

The deceased is identified as Ratnakar S C (63). It is learnt that he was residing in Ramakrishna Ashrama at Govinduru in Yerlapadi in Karkala taluk.

Reportedly, on March 3 morning, Ratnakar had been to take bath in the Swarna river. When he ventured into water, he accidentally slipped and fell into the water and drowned. His mortal remains were traced in the evening.

Orginally hailing from Shivamogga, Ratnakar had retired from ISRO four years ago.

Karkala town police have registered a case of Unnatural Death Report (UDR) under CrPC section 174.

    He lead the team responsible for IRNSS satellites no doubt he was an intellectual slipping and losing his life is not a reasonable possibility. We should not rule out role of unknown hands as many isro and nuclear scientists have met such accidental deaths case in point is recent revelations by ex director of SAC Dr Tapan Mishra.

    Sad .I am sure it was a his bad luck he slipped .How many times we slip by mistake ?same way must have slipped and couldnt hold back couldnt breath so his fate was sealed. one should not find someones fault here.May his soul rest in peace.Big loss to the world of ISRO. doesnt he have any family?
