Mysuru, Mar 4: The JD(S), which has succeeded in getting the post of the mayor of Mysuru by making use of the Congressmen's aversion towards the BJP, is now trying to snatch MLA Tanveer Sait, away from the Congress.
Kumaraswamy's main aim was to deliver a telling blow to Siddaramaiah in his backyard by denying the post of the mayor to the Congress. Now, it is said, Tanveer is being pressurized to join the JD(S), by projecting that the Congress does not value the Muslim leaders. C M Ibrahim has already expressed his desire to join the JD(S). It is being analysed that snatching away Tanveer, who has become an MLA five times in the home turf of Siddaramaiah, will prove to be costly for the Congress if it happens. Tanveer is angry that he has been served with a notice on the issue, even though no top leaders evinced interest in the mayoral election and stayed away from Mysuru when lot of things were happening there.
Many feel that Tanveer is being made a scapegoat in the fight of strongmen. Tanveer's supporters feel that notice was served on their leader in order to appease Siddaramaiah, who is incensed at giving away the mayoral post to the JD(S).
