Kundapur, Mar 3: Byndoor town panchayat is not functioning properly even after several months of its formation. Though the gram panchayat is upgraded as town panchayat, there was a setback for facilities and developmental works. As there have been complaints of technical drawbacks, a meeting about town panchayat development was chaired by MLA B M Sukumar Shetty at Kollur on Wednesday.
The MLA confronted the officials in the meeting and asked them the reason that the files have remained pending for more than six months. He directed them to correct the administrative hassles immediately. "What is the use of formation of town panchayat otherwise? 5.56 cents of land available for Hindu crematorium. Basic facilities should be made available there. Shelter should be provided. Develop it likewise,” he said.
“Suitable place is earmarked to dispose of trash in Byndoor town panchayat. Officials should work with enthusiasm,” he said.
“A ring road is proposed to control the increasing traffic congestion. The land acquisition and work should begin soon,” he added. "Five years have passed since the 94C process began. But many families have not received title deeds. The assistant commissioner should look into them,” Shetty said.
Deputy commissioner, G Jagadeesha, assistant commissioner, K Raju, district panchayat member Shankar Poojary, Babu Shetty, Rohit Kumar Shetty and officials were present.
Highway problems:
“The problems on highways from Kundapur to Shiroor are being reported in newspapers often. NH officials should look into them and set them right. The junction at Kundapur government bus stand, service road at Sangam, construction of shelter, fully fledged junction at Tallur, service road, crossing facilities at Jalady, service road at Mullikatte, service road at Trasi, bus stand, footpath at Maravanthe taking into account tourism, street lights, service road at Navunda, crossing at Byndoor new bus stand and other needs of people should be immediately looked into. There are complaints of water flowing into agricultural land and issues with the drainage. Set these issues right,” he said.
“The town panchayat was formed six months ago for the convenience of people. But the problems are solved in six months. Why did you keep files pending? 69 files are pending, Set those right as soon as possible,” he directed the officials.
