Mangaluru, Mar 1: The Central Council of the diocese in association with Toast Masters Club, here on Sunday February 28 organised 'Eloquence' - an interactive workshop on enhancing public speaking skills.
The programme began with a prayer song led by members of the ICYM Central Council. Fr Dr Praveen Martis - principal of St Aloysius College, in the city, Roy Castelino- PRO of the diocese, Fr Ashwin Cardoza director of ICYM in the diocese, Shraddha Pai - president of Toast Masters Club Mangaluru, Sapna Shenoy - area director of Toast Masters Club Mangaluru, Oliver Lobo - coordinator, Leon Loyd Saldanha - president of ICYM, Veena Shalet Vas- general secretary of ICYM were the dignitaries on the dais.
Leon Loyd Saldanha welcomed the guests and the gathering. The dignitaries inaugurated the programme symbolically by unboxing the mike.
Shraddha Pai in her introductory speech gave a brief introduction about the working of Toast Masters Club.
Roy Castelino spoke on how youth need to communicate effectively in society and be a good example for others. He also appreciated the ICYM team for hosting such a programme.
Fr Dr Praveen Martis in his presidential speech spoke about the three C's for public speaking namely, Competence, Confidence and Connect and also shared his experience. He also mentioned that if we have the passion we can achieve anything in life.
There were three sessions in total which were conducted by M N Pai - a distinguished Toast Master, Preeval and Fiona, members of Toastmasters Club Mangaluru.
Veena Vas proposed the vote of thanks. Sujay Lobo and Sheldon Alvares compèred the inaugural and valedictory ceremony.
Fr Ashwin Cardoza- director of ICYM Mangaluru diocese congratulated the delegates for their active participation and thanked everyone for being the backbone of the event. The programme concluded at 4.30 pm with the ICYM theme song.
A total of 73 delegates participated in the event and made it a success.
