Bengaluru, Feb 27: The Bar Council sub-committee has recommended the Karnataka State Bar Council to suspend the licence given to advocate Meera Raghavedra, to practice law. She faces the charge of blackening the face of Professor K S Bhagwan.
The bar council had formed a sub-committee to look into this issue and file a report. The bar council sub-committee has now given its report. It has recommended to keep the licence to practice issued to Meera in abeyance till the disciplinary proceedings are completed.
The bar council had formed a committee with members N Shivakumar, M Devaraj and M S Madhusudan.
A complaint had been filed in the magistrate's court here against Professor Bhagwan, accusing him of passing insulting remarks about Hinduism. When he attended the hearing at the additional chief metropolitan magistrate court on February 4 and was on his way back, advocate Meera had sprayed ink on his face.
