Bengaluru, Feb 26: The Government of Karnataka is taking all measures to bring about reforms in the access for quality education and a new Engineering Research and Development (ER&D) policy will be rolled out on coming March 2, deputy chief minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, who also holds the higher education portfolio, said on Friday.

He was speaking after performing the stone laying ceremony for the construction of an annex building at the government women’s polytechnic college in Bengaluru.

The state is ahead in the country in the sector of engineering research and development and to take advantage of the conducive ecosystem the new policy has been framed, he said.

The Engineering R&D sector needs to be further promoted and the government aims to bring about a paradigm change in the sector by awarding subsidies and concessions to the eligible players, he said.

Dr Narayan also told that the government women’s polytechnic college would be upgraded and it had been decided after wider consultations to rename it in the name of ‘Nalwadi Krishnaraja Odeyar Campus'.

Salma, principal of the college was felicitated during the occasion.

A Devegowda, MLC, P Prabhakar, commissioner, department of collegiate and technical education, Talwar, director were present.
