Mangaluru, Feb 25: Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar inaugurated a day-long annual conference for women police officers and staff here at Rama Lakshmi Narayana convention hall, Pandeshwar, on Thursday February 25.
As many as 234 women police officers and staff took part in the programme organized by Mangaluru city police.
The annual conference will focus on addressing child and women related issues and understanding laws and acts that are helpful to handle such cases. The conference will have health check-ups and a visit along with family members of women officers and staff to Pilikula zoo and amusement park.
Addressing the gathering, Shashi Kumar said, “This is the time for all the women officers and staff to relax and enjoy the annual conference. Yesterday, a movie was screened which was a stress buster for all of you. Today, there is Pilikula zoo and amusement park visit along with your family.”
Speaking to media later, Shashi Kumar said, “Women police officers and staff were stressed out as there was CAA-NRC protests, followed by corona pandemic, VIP visits, political events and gram panchayat election. It is time to have a refreshing session for the cops to provide them some relief. The conference started with health check-ups. Various sessions pertaining to health and food habits have been scheduled. The conference and visit to Pilikula is only meant for women cops along with their women family members to make them feel happy and relaxed.
“This is a platform for them to speak with their batch mates who are deployed at different police stations. Other than law and order, they have a lot of things to discuss with their colleagues and batch mates. This was a surprise for the women staff. By organizing such events for them, even they will have good opinion towards the higher ranked officers. Tomorrow, we have planned a movie screening for policemen (assistant sub-inspectors). In the coming days, several activities will be conducted for the cops,” he said.
Mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar, producer Kishore D Shetty, IAS officer Mona Rawat, owner of the hall Ratna and Sakhi one stop centre administrator Priya, police inspector women police station Revathi and others were present.
During the conference, there will be sessions on nutrition and healthy lifestyle by Mohith Alva from Atom Fitness, sessions on sexual harassment and other women and child related laws by Judge Shilpa, and POCSO and child rights by lawyer and professor at SDM College Kavitha Murugesh, and session on communication, money and stress management skills by Shobha Rodrigues, Liana Mary and Joseph Priya (Psychologist).
