Mumbai, Feb 23: Well-known Karnataka Sporting Association of the Tulu Kannadigas active in football and cricket for the last 92 years held their annual meeting at Church gate sports ground on February 20 presided over by the association president Dr P V Shetty.
The annual report, accounts and the proposal to admit lifelong sportspersons who peaked in their respective fields to the association were approved.
Arjun awardee, Badminton star Chirag Shetty, international football player Steven Dias, Godfrey Pereira, Rayan D’Souza, Maharashtra football team captain Vijetha Shetty and international junior cricketer Tanush Kotian were made members.
"It was decided to construct a well-equipped Club House and name it Karnataka Kreeda Bhavana after the KSA contract is renewed. The dream will be a reality if KSA members, sports lovers and Tulu Kannadiga donors cooperate," said president Dr P V Shetty.
Covid warrior Dr P V Shetty who was honoured by Maharashtra state governor Bhagat Singh Kosyari, Poisar Gymkhana vice-president Karunaker Shetty and Gaurav Payyade were felicitated by KSA vice-president Ravi Anchan, joint secretary M I Shetty and treasurer Jayanth Kunder respectively. KSA football players who won in the state level football tournament at Pusa, trainer Sham Savath, manager Salvadore D’Souza and assistant manager K Ganesh were felicitated in the meeting.
KSA secretary Jaya A Shetty explained the future plans, requested everybody to lend a helping hand in Karnataka Kreeda Bhavana and rendered the vote of thanks.
