Mangaluru, Feb 22: MLA UT Khader on Monday February 22 said, "The district administration should convey a joint meeting along with officials of Kasargod district, regarding restricting entry of people from Kerala to Karnataka without RT-PCR negative report to contain the spread of coronavirus.”
He was speaking to media here at the circuit house. He said, “As both Kasargod and Dakshina Kannada districts are interconnected, several commuters travel to our district on a daily basis. Hence, to avoid such confusion, the district administration should hold a joint meeting with the Kasargod district administration to provide relaxation to commuters coming from Manjeshwar, Kumble and Kasargod. In the map, both districts may be separate but are interconnected. Several people come to the city from parts of Manjeshwar, Kumble and Kasargod.”
Speaking on confusion over toll plaza in Sasthan, Hejamady, Surathkal and Talapady, Khader said, “The administration should come to a logical conclusion to put an end to this confusion. The district in-charge minister is not able to solve the confusion at Sasthan toll plaza. Will he solve confusion at Talapady? BJP is in power at the centre and state. They have to either reduce the toll fee for buses or should take action to send private buses through the toll. If private buses are not ready to go through the toll plaza, the administration should take disciplinary action and cancel their permits. Due to this people are suffering and walking for more than 500 meters. The inefficiency of the administration is the main cause for people's suffering.
"A few fishermen have anchored their boats as the government hiked the price for petroleum and diesel. The government has not released any subsidy for fishermen. Why the state government cannot reduce the price for petroleum and diesel like the Chhattisgarh government did?" Khader questioned.
Answering to a question on the PFI's freedom march and the PFI leader's comment on Ram Mandir at the outskirts of the city, Khader said, “Who gave them permission to hold the march in this sensitive district. The government has given permission and it is responsible for everything.”
On the Income Tax department's raid to the house belonging to Khader’s brother, U T Ifthikar, Khader said, "IT has raided several medical colleges in the state. For several decades our family is closely associated with persons of several medical colleges. Ifthikar was a senate member of Rajiv Gandhi University Health Sciences. IT officials have done their duty. We had extended full cooperation.”
He also said that people instead of giving importance to sensational issues, should give importance to the things happening in reality.
