Mangaluru, Feb 22: A check post started functioning at Talapady border with Kerala state as the number of infected persons is on rise in the state of Kerala. Officials said that only those having negative RT-PCR reports will be allowed inside Karnataka.

From 7 am on Monday February 22, a team led by DHO Ramakrishna Bayari, tahsildar Guruprasad stopped people arriving from Kerala and asked to show a test report. None of the people carried RTPCR reports with them. They asked them to bring the same from tomorrow or else they will not be allowed to enter Mangaluru.

Harshad Vakwadi, former president of the standing committee of Kasargod zilla panchayat said, "Union government has clearly stated in the order that was taken out in January this year that no vehicles should be obstructed at interstate borders. It is unfortunate that the Karnataka government is not following the same. We will approach the court citing this order of the union government. When Uttar Pradesh CM arrived in Kerala on Sunday, no rules were put in place. Now all of a sudden conducting atrocities on the hapless public is a political plot." He said that exams are beginning. Work also has started only since a few days. These kinds of sudden laws will put the public in difficulty.

As the vehicles approaching the city from Kerala were not allowed, people of the border region stopped the vehicles going to Kerala from Mangaluru on highway for one hour. Protesters raised slogans against chief minister B S Yediyurappa and deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Dr K V Rajendra and lied down on the road. Though Ullal station officer Sandeep S asked the protesters not to block the highway, the protesters did not budge and shouted 'Karnataka police go back'. Later, Manjeshwar police arrived on the scene and circle police inspector Arun Das spoke with the protesters and assured the protesters of discussing the issue with Kasargod district administration. However, the protesters warned that they will continue to protest if they are harassed by Karnataka officials.

Why was it implemented only after yogi campaign finished in Kasaragod. Scores of people from DK and Udupi had gone to Kasaragod for yogis campaign, no covid certificate was required and all of a sudden it was implemented after his campaign. This is preplanned and dirty politics.

I have some questions "There is no restriction for ambulances. But, co-passengers who accompany the patients should get the negative report of the RT-PCR test done 72 hours prior to check-in." What is the meaning of above statement? It is quoted from above news.

District administration has instructed bus conductors to check covid negative certificate before boarding.!!! So, now bus conductors will do following duties 1) Asking the passengers whether they travel to karnataka. 2) Verifying RT-PCR report of passengers. 3) While verifying, if the a report found done before 72 hours, asking whether they are daily commuters. 4) Checking the Employee ID card to ensure they are daily commuters. 5) If any disobedience to rule found, reporting to higher authority. 6) After these all checkings, if they have time, then collecting bus fares from the passengers and issuing tickets.
