Chikmagalur, Jun 25: Leader of the opposition in the state assembly, Siddaramaiah, said that the state Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, is so skilled in the art of reeling out lies, that he deserves to be decorated with a PhD degree in telling lies. Siddu was speaking to the reporters during his visit to the town to participate in a private function on Thursday June 24.
“I have written a book on the dismal failures of the state government during its two-year rule. I will release it on the next day of the conclusion of the ‘Sadhana Samavesh’ being organized at Bangalore to brag about the government’s achievements during the said period,” he informed.
Reacting to Deve Gowda’s comment that the inertia of the Congress, recognized opposition party, had resulted in the increasing arrogance of the CM, Siddu said Deve Gowda and his family had immensely contributed in the meteoric rise of Yeddyurappa. He charged Deve Gowda with trying to cover up the mistakes committed by the latter’s son, Kumaraswamy, in having truck with the BJP and thus helping the communal party, BJP, to rise to power.
He accused Yeddyurappa of losing control over the state’s finances, as reflected by the fact that the state’s loans and liabilities have risen to over Rs 90,000 crore now, from Rs 59,000 crore, when Yeddyurappa took over as the CM. He blamed the state government for its dismal failure in rehabilitating the flood-affected people of North Karnataka.
Reacting to Justice Santosh Hegde’s resignation, he felt that the government had entered into business with the corrupt people the Lokayukta had caught red-handed, and reinstated the suspended employees in their original posts. He also decried the government’s failure to implement the Lokayukta’s recommendations on illegal mining.
