I landed in USA just 12 years back and trying to find Cricket game and desperately finding some team. I heard some of the immigrants from India, Pakistan, Australia, England formed Cricket team. But I made several attempts. No one knows anything about this game and team . But after lot of studies/efforts I came to know Americans are not playing cricket and i do not think they will play cricket ever. Main sports in this country is Football (i.e. International Rugby) 40% , then baseball 35%, Baseball - 20%. 5% rest of other games. Even Soccer (i.e. International football) only 4% of Americans watch Soccer. While talking about Cricket, most of them never heard of this game. One person who know about Cricket told me , this Game is played by Brits and their colonies and not their cup of tea. Eventually, i too lost interest. I do not think even 10/10 over game they will adopt. They have their own style. When World Cup Cricket also there is no televised on sports channel. We have to take private dish and watch. Very sad , such huge country and mega power do not play and understand this game. Hope Daiji World will some about Cricket

Why is he not knwn as a Malayalee?

Mr.Rajesh, that is because he is NOT a Malayalee. As you may know in Kumble and Kasargod there are many Kannadigas,in fact a very large percentage of the population.

I think Anil Kumble kept himself low profile regarding his roote which is Kerala. Even,Malayalis didn't make it very big because he is from BORDER region ! Had Kumble been from Cochin or Trivandrum, situation would have been different. Kasargod and other places have been totally ignored by Kerala Government.Anyway, small town Kumble finally giving respect to great spin magician. It is a coincidence that Anil Kumble was given captaincy at the end of his cricket career. Now his own people recognized him after his retirement. According to me,Kumble is far better than Ganguly or Dravid in the captaincy matter.

He is a Kannadiga. I m also married to Kumble surname family(my wife family). it was part of Karnataka earlier before kasargod went to kerala. even now we stay close to Kumble's house in bengaluru. Any which ways, he is a great INDIAN cricketer and that is more important. PRADEEP KUMAR KR

He is a Malayalee, thats why he survived so long, saying he is a spinner, infact he is a medium fast bowler with spin action. Anyways he deserves a pat.
