Abu Dhabi, Jan 24: Abu Dhabi City Municipality has launched awareness campaign to crack down on overcrowded housing units in areas of Shakhbout City. People will be notified of overcrowded houses, including health and safety risks and straining public utilities.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality will be running the campaign till January 28. The exteriors of the building are also inspected to ensure they comply with the city's standards for aesthetic appearance.
The municipality has, over the years, also fined firms for making their employees live in overcrowded and substandard accommodations. As per regulations a limit of three people per room and prohibit makeshift partitions subdividing rooms is set.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality will be imposing fine upto Dh200,000 for flouting rules.
