Ponda Jun 17: Noted lyricist and vice- chairperson of Ravindra Bhavan- Margao Shridhar Kamat released Pavlam, a Konkani music album by Sanjay Borkar at Venkateshleela Hotel here recently.
Noted musician Sidhanath Buyao, editor- in -chief of Prudent Media, Sandesh Prabhudesai, former manager of Sunaparant Konkani Daily, Vinod Shetya, renowned musician Mathew Fernandes were present on the dais.
The album is conceptualized by Borkar. Music arrangement is done by noted musician Mathew Fernandes. Album consists of eight songs, which are penned by Borkar and the music is also composed by him.
Speaking on the occasion Kamat said that Goan musicians should take the palanquin of Konkani music to greater heights, by rendering good music to the music lovers. To achieve this, the musicians should always learn and understand the music of whole world, he added.
Kamat also announced that very soon the “state of art’ recording studio at Ravindra Bhavan-Margao will be started, as to provide good service to the Goan musician at affordable prices.
Prabhudesai urged the musician to create the music which will itself show that it’s Konkani music, without listening to the lyrics. He said that Goan musicians should take the task as challenge and should pursue the same. According to him, Maharashtra and Bangladesh has its own form of music, and Goa also should have the same.
Guest of honor, Buyao said that Goa Government should create some schemes for music production which would help producers to enrich the field.
He also lamented that there is no aid from government side for music production and told that that there are several problems in distribution of same, for which he requested government of Goa to arrange some stalls for Music production at Kala Academy, Ravidnra Bhavan and such other areas.
Borkar informed that he is working on his next Konkani music album for children which will be released soon.
Shetya, who presided the function, said that people should support the Konkani Cinema and Konkani Music, by buying the CDs and DVDs. According to him people shouldn’t buy the pirated CDs or DVDs, if this happens then the producers will face the huge loss and they will never dare for next production.
Shailesh Borkar, Bindiya Vast Naik, who have lend their voice for album where honored by the chief guest. Another singer Sonia Shirsat, who is presently performing in Portugal, couldn’t attend the program; her Father Dr Shashi Shirsat accepted the honour on her behalf.
Shruti Ashok Adpaikar and Sunita Jai Naik welcomed the gathering. Sudesh Naik compered the program and proposed the vote of thanks.
