Kasargod, Jan 21: Acting on a tip-off, customs officials on Thursday, January 21 seized nearly four kilograms of gold that was being transported illegally in a car.
The arrested are Tushar (27) and Jyothiram (23) of Belagavi, Shahapur.
The customs officials on authentic information, on Thursday afternoon stopped the car which was plying towards Mangaluru from Kannur at Pallikere tollgate. They found the gold concealed in the car.
Under the guidance of assistant commissioner of customs E V Vikas, Kannur, Kasargod customs commissioner PP Rajiv, staff K Chandrashekar, K Anand Korakkod, M Vishwanath took part in the operation. Officials are gathering additional information from the accused.
It may be recalled that the customs officials had seized Rs 6.2 crore gold last February.
