Doha, Jan 21: Karnataka Muslim Cultural Association (KMCA), a non-profit associate organization to the apex body of Indian Cultural Centre under the aegis of the Embassy of India, successfully organised its 12th annual blood donation campaign on January 15 at the Blood Donor Centre, Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha-Qatar.
This year’s campaign was organized in association with South Kanara Muslim Welfare Association (SKMWA) and supported by Highland Islamic Forum - Qatar (HIF-Q) and Family Friends Circle - Qatar (FFC-Q).
The drive which was held from 7 am to 11 am witnessed 69 successful voluntary blood donations after routine check-ups.
KMCA president, Fayaz Ahmed welcomed the chief guest, S R H Fahmi, first secretary of the Embassy of India, Qatar, who spoke on the occasion and congratulated the organizing committee and the Indian community at large for taking up such humanitarian causes. ICC president, Babu Rajan, ICBF president Ziad Usman, affiliated organisation office bearers, members and KMCA senior patrons were present. Dr Rajeet Shetty from Elite Medical Center, enlightened the donors and the gathering about the health benefits of blood donation.
KMCA also felicitated long timer Indian resident of Qatar, a spearheading personality in social works, active member of community organizations and who has held positions in apex bodies, Diwakar Pujari. All attending presidents and prominent personalities of Karnataka based organizations took part in the same. Ravi shetty presented a brief talk highlighting Pujari’s contributions during his tenure in Qatar.
On behalf of the executive committee members of KMCA, SKMWA, HIF-Q and FFC-Q, Abdul Majeed (of SKMWA) presented the vote of thanks and KMCA vice-president Zia ul-Huq coordinated the day’s presentation events.
The donors were presented with 'Certified Life Saver' recognition certificates endorsed by all four organizing bodies.
Patrons, leaders and members of various ICC affiliated organisations were present on the occasion.
