Bengaluru, Jan 20: Chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday held a state-wide review meeting with deputy commissioners of districts and chief executive officers of zilla panchayats ahead of the forthcoming state budget for the year 2021-22 in March.
This is the first physical meeting of the heads of district administration during the last one and half years as the chief minister had been holding such meetings virtually through video conferencing.
Expressing his happiness at the first face-to-face interaction with the heads of the district administration at Vidhana Soudha, the chief minister emphasized the need to streamline and activate the state administration so as to address the problems of the people effectively.
"If the administration is active and efficient at the grama, taluk and zilla panchayat levels and the problems of the people are solved in their local places, there will not be any need for people to come to Bengaluru with petitions seeking solutions,’’ the chief minister said.
Yediyurappa asked the officials to solve the problems of the people from village level itself and ensure that all the government programmes are implemented effectively in an expeditious manner.
In addition to solving the problems of the people, the chief minister said the administration must streamline the resource mobilization efforts and also solve the problems and bottlenecks in the implementation of developmental programmes. He stressed the need for speedy resolution of all disputes pertaining to land acquisition as national highway projects were hampered by over 14,000 pending litigations.
The chief minister launched the new software for planning and also released a booklet with details of government plans and programmes.
State deputy chief ministers Govind M Karjol, Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, home minister Basavaraj Bommai, revenue minister R Ashok, ministers V Somanna, C C Patil, Kota Srinivas Poojary, chief secretary P Ravikumar and additional chief secretary Dr Shalini Rajneesh participated in the meeting.
