Bantwal, Jan 16: Excise department officials on rounds upon receiving definite information at Modankap, Bantwal taluk B Mooda on January 16 intercepted a Toyota Etios car and found 50.400 litres Goa origin liquor being transported illegally in it.
The officials subsequently raided the welding shop belonging to the suspect and found 107.600 litres liquor and 34 litres beer both of Goa origin illegally stored by him. The personnel have arrested suspect Sandeep (35), resident of Vian Thota Mane, Modankap, Bantwal, registered a case and remanded him in judicial custody.
A Toyota Etios car, an Ashoka Leyland tempo and the liquor is confiscated from the suspect. The value of the vehicle and the liquor seized from him is approximately Rs 22 lac.
The raid was conducted in the leadership of excise deputy commissioner Shailaja Kote by Bantwal area excise inspector Shaikh Imran, excise deputy commissioner’s office inspector Vijay Kumar, excise sub inspector Jagannath Naika and staff. Bantwal area excise inspector registered the case.
