Bengaluru, Jan 16: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bengaluru on a two-day official visit to the State this afternoon.
The Union Home Minister was received at the HAL Airport by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Amit Shah, the number two man in the BJP, is participating in the Core Committee meeting of the State BJP in the evening, which is expected to discuss the aftermath and dissension within the State BJP Legislature Party following the expansion of the Yediyurappa ministry, which was held up for quite a long time pending green signal from the party high command.
BJP National General Secretary in charge of Karnataka Arun Singh and National General Secretary (Organisation) B L Santhosh as well as Union Ministers from Karnataka D V Sadananda Gowda and Prahlad Joshi are attending the core committee meeting.
The Core Committee meeting is also expected to discuss and probably finalise the party candidates for the ensuing by-elections to the Belagavi Lok Sabha seat and assembly by-elections from Maski and Basavakalyan.
Amit Shah will be flying off to Bhadravathi for the inauguration of the Rapid Action Force unit.
The Union Home Minister will be participating in various programmes in Bagalkot and Belagavi districts on Sunday and also visit the residence of former Union Minister Suresh Angadi, who passed away due to Covid recently, in Belagavi before leaving for Delhi.
