Puttur, Jan 16: The rural police station personnel of the taluk have done an exemplary humanitarian act and helped a pregnant woman, about to give birth to a child, on the roadside, waiting for some vehicle and took her to the nearest hospital in their vehicle itself.

On Friday January 15, at around 1 pm, assistant sub inspector Timmaiah Gowda of rural police station was patrolling along with police constables Prashanth, Girish and Muniya. They saw a heavily pregnant woman standing along with an elderly woman on the side of the road at Eshwaramangala Galimukha. On inquiry, they came to know that the woman was waiting for any vehicle to go to the hospital for delivery as she did not get the ambulance from the government hospital.

ASI Timmaiah immediately took the pregnant and the elderly woman in his department vehicle to the nearest government hospital. However, as the woman developed severe labour pain, she was shifted to Puttur government hospital in an ambulance. The woman gave birth to a baby in the ambulance itself. Both mother and child are in good health.

The timely action of Puttur rural station ASI Timmaiah and personnel is appreciated wholeheartedly by the public.
