Udupi, Jan 14: Sri Krishna, Paryaya Admar Math has organised various cultural and religious programmes as part of the fifth centenary celebration of the Paryaya puja system of the Ashta Matas enforced by seer Sri Vadiraja. The programme will commence from January 16 and culminate on Jan 23. On Monday, January 18, Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa will visit Sri Krishna Math, Udupi to inaugurate the newly built ‘Queue Complex’ for the devotees at the math, said the manager of Paryaya Admar Math Govindaraju.
Speaking to media persons in a press meet in Kanaka Mantapa at Sri Krishna Math here on Thursday, January 14 Govindaraju said, "Queue complex called as Vishwa Patha is a newly built route to take the 'darshana' of Lord Sri Krishna. The entrance for the temple will begin from a wooden chariot, followed by Madhwa Sarovara. Then comes the Swarna Gopura on the top before taking blessings of Lord Krishna. Finally, devotees can visit the Bojana Shala to get prasadam and then exit the temple. This new system has been formulated as per the plans by Adamaru Swamiji."
Briefing about the history of Paryaya Govindaraju said, "Earlier there the Paryaya system was held for two months during the time of Acharya Madhwa. Later, Sri Vadiraja Acharya started a biennial system in 1522. The same tradition of performing Krishna puja has been continued even today as it were an unwritten law."
On January 18, the books of Sri Acharya Madhwa and Sri Vadiraja will be carried out in a grand procession from Jodukatte to Sri Krishna Math. On January 22, on the occasion of Saura Madhwa Navami, Tulu session and Tulu script learning session will be inaugurated. On January 23, the valedictory of the fifth centenary celebration will be held.
In order to encourage rural products, an eight-day exhibition cum sale event has also been organized. Madhubani art of Bihar, Mithila art, Manjusha painting, clay models, wooden sculptures and many more arts made by skilled persons will be displayed.
Laxminarayana Macchintaya, divan of math, Sunil Kumar Udyavar, Purushottam Adve, Y N Ramachandra Rao, Rohit Tantri, Parashuram Bhat, Madhava Acharya, Pradeep Rao and others were present.
