Mangaluru, Jan 14: Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Dr Rajendra K V said that the vaccine against coronavirus will be given from January 16 officially. He called upon all the staff of vaccination centres to discharge their duties in a careful manner.
Dr Rajendra was speaking at the preliminary meeting of Covid-19 vaccination camp in the video conference hall of DC office complex in the city on Wednesday, January 13.
The DC further said, "The process of administering vaccine will take place across six vaccination centres in the district from January 16." He asked the health professionals to monitor the beneficiaries and make sure about the side effects. He said that the vaccination will reach Mangaluru centre soon and preparations are on to send the same to six centres in the district.
Dr Rajendra also said that vaccination against Covid-19 will be administered to health professionals on the inauguration day. So far no side effects have been reported from any part of the country.
The DC instructed the health professionals to get the medical check-up of beneficiaries above 18 done before administering the vaccine. Care should be taken to prevent the beneficiary from getting confused.
Dr Rajendra asked the concerned to arrange drinking water facility, mask, sanitiser and thermal scanner in the vaccination centres and other necessary medical equipment. He stressed that social distancing should be maintained without fail. He also informed the health professionals to take emergency treatment measures in case any beneficiary reports of any kind of uneasiness after receiving the vaccine.
The DC said that supervision of using the vaccine and its side effects will be held with the cooperation of district administration, health and family welfare department, police department, women and children welfare department and other concerned departments.
