Mangaluru Jan 14: MLA U T Khader said that the chief minister (CM) deserves the same respect as the prime minister of the country.
“The leaders of the ruling party are delivering statements against the government. MLA Sunil Kumar was unhappy which could be seen in his tweet where he spoke about blackmailing. Another MLA is insulting chief minister B S Yediyurappa through his tweets. The chief minister is being insulted by his own party leaders. People who insult the prime minister are termed anti-nationals. The chief minister too should get the same respect. The BJP state president should clarify on the same."
Khader further said that state government should clarify to the people of the state over its ministers’ recent statements on abolishing taluk panchayat system in Karnataka. He said, “We strongly condemn the statement made by some of the leaders to abolish taluk panchayat system in the state. Is it possible for the state government to make an unconstitutional move? When there is no proper information about the same, why to create confusion among public.
“What was the reason behind the thinking of these leaders to abolish taluk panchayat? I urge the government and rural development minister to clarify on the same. If taluk panchayat is abolished, who will monitor the taluk panchayat level development works? The government should strengthen taluk panchayat instead of abolishing it.
“Earlier when Siddaramaiah government was in power, 400 litres of kerosene was provided for small boats for fishing purpose. Now it has come down to 130 litres. What is government’s intention behind this move?
“We are happy that S Angara has been given a cabinet minister’s post. The senior leader has faced injustice in the past. Due to the pressure of Sullia constituency, S Angara finally got justice. We have no objection on Kota Srinivas Poojary continuing as DK district in-charge minister, but the government should issue a clarification on the same. When there is Angara, a senior leader who has an experience of 30 to 40 years and belongs to the district, why will he not be made the district in-charge minister of Dakshina Kannada?” questioned Khader.
