Davanagere, Jan 11: "The Congress, which ruled the country for such a long period, is plagued by three curses, one from Mahatma Gandhi, second from Ambedkar, and the third from the Gau Mata. Therefore this party has no future," said MP and state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was speaking at a function organized at Honnali in the district to congratulate newly elected gram panchayat members supported by the BJP on Sunday January 10.
He recalled that Gandhiji had expressed his wish for the Congress party to be dissolved after the country's independence. "They did not adhere to this instruction, nor did they turn the country into Ram Rajya (welfare state). Therefore, the party is wilting under Gandhiji's curse," he analysed.
Kateel said that the Congress had seen to it that Ambedkar was defeated in two elections. He therefore, reasoned that the party is reeling under Ambedkar's curse. He pointed out that the Congress had chosen cow and the calf as the party symbol for a few years. He accused the party of forgetting the Gau Mata after bagging power. Therefore, it is facing the wrath of the cow," he said teasingly.
