Bengaluru, Jan 10: Deputy chief minister Laxman Savadi and minister Somanna have admitted that they know Yuvaraj alias Swami, who was recently arrested in a cheating case, as per reports.
Earlier, the BJP ministers had denied any link with accused Yuvaraj. However, when the photos of state BJP leaders visiting Swami's house got published on social and electronic media, they admitted that they indeed know the accused very well.
Photos of DCM Laxman Savadi, housing minister Somanna and former minister Murugesh Nirani have been circulating widely in social media. Savadi said that he visited Yuvraj's house as he pressured him to do so. Even minister Somanna, in his defence, said the same.
Retired SP Papaiah was interrogated by the police in a case relating enticing a retired judge by Yuvaraj with the promise of making him governor of the state. A case in this regard has been filed by the retired judge in Wilson Garden police station of the city.
Accused Yuvaraj had met some MLAs and had offered them the position of ministers. It is said that the investigation team is gathering information in this regard. Yuvaraj's photo with Congress leader K C Venugopal has also gone viral on social media.
Yuvaraj alias Swami alias Sevalal Swami has also been accused of misusing the names of BJP and RSS leaders and is understood to have connections with several Sandalwood actresses, including Radhika Kumaraswamy. Radhika had earlier addressed a press meet where she said she knew Yuvaraj merely as an astrologer who was good at his job for the last 17 years, and he was introduced to her by her father who is no more. She had dismissed the notion that she had dealings running into crores of rupees relating to using political clout, and said that she had only received Rs 75 lac from him as advance for the film 'Natyarani Shanthale which he proposed to produce and in which she had agreed to act. She was grilled by the police for over four hours on Friday January 8 in connection to allegations that there were monetary transactions worth Rs 75 lac between her and the prime accused in a cheating case.
On December 16, 2020, the CCB had said that it had seized 100 cheques worth Rs 91 crore from Yuvaraj's residence after his arrest.
