Dubai, Jan 10: In one of Malaysia’s worst floods in decades more than 20 people have been killed. Taking this into consideration UAE has dispatched medicine, food and equipment to shelter more than 50,000 people.
The floods have displaced more than 200,000 and killed around 20 people. North-east regions with Pahang are worst-hit. Rescue groups are trying to reach people stuck in villages as most of the villages are submerged.
The aid from the UAE is part of the first phase distributed by the Emirates Red Crescent.
Mohammed Al Falahi, the Red Crescent’s secretary-general, said “The first phase will focus on shelter, food and health requirements, and then other stages will follow.”
