Mangaluru, Jan 8: Under mysterious circumstances, a 30-year-old married woman sustained severe injuries to her head after which she was admitted to a private hospital in Deralakatte on Tuesday, January 5. The staff of the hospital said that the woman is not in a condition to speak and was being treated in the ICU.
The woman identified as Shobha, wife of Dinesh, a resident of Tharigudde near Madaka in Amblamogaru, works at 'Miracle', a tailoring shop near Thokkottu bus stand. The incident reportedly occurred after Shobha was returning to home from work. Shobha is said to have not reached home after she left work on the evening of January 5.
The staff at the private hospital found her details through an identity card and informed her family about her condition.
When Shobha's family reached the hospital, they were told that she was admitted in the ICU. The staff also informed them that an auto driver had brought Shobha to the emergency unit. However, he said to have disappeared after dropping her in front of the emergency unit. The staff further maintained that the auto driver left without even informing the cause of injury to them.
On humanitarian grounds, the hospital administration started treating Shobha for her injuries. Meanwhile, Naguri traffic police suspect that Shobha might have been injured in a road accident. The police are already tracing the vehicle.
According to the sources close to Shobha, the day she was injured, she was carrying cash. But, later it was found that there was no money on her. If it was an accident, the auto driver should have informed the hospital staff about the incident. Naguri police have registered a hit and run case and are in pursuit of the vehicle.
Police have also obtained CCTV footage from the hospital so as to trace the auto driver. It has been three days since the incident, but the auto driver has not once visited the hospital. Shobha is still unable to speak. However, hospital authorities assured that she is recovering.
The Tailors Association of Ullal has urged the police to unravel the mystery surrounding the matter and provide justice to the family members.
