Panaji, Jan 9: Chief minister Pramod Sawant stressed that women should take up leadership positions for the welfare of society. "When a woman takes over the leadership, it nurtures the next generation. Society requires women leadership," Sawant said encouraging women to assume leadership in various fields such as business, literature and so on.
Sawant was speaking on the birth anniversary of the first woman chief minister of Goa, Shashikala Kakodkar, and whinnied that her name does not appear in any infrastructure facility and assured to name a project after her in the next one year.
Speaking on the demands of the organizers for a state-level function in honour of her birth anniversary Sawant said, "I will discuss the demand with the protocol department and ensure that the state celebrates her birth anniversary. The youth have a lot to learn from Kakodkar," Sawant said.
