Mumbai, Jun 9: Konkani Catholic Association (KCA) of suburban Nallasopara, under St Francis De Sales parish, Nallasopara (East), organized a programme for distribution of school uniforms, notebooks, and writing materials to the poor and needy students in the locality at the parish auditorium on Sunday June 6.
Association president Harry B Coutinho presided over the programme.
Fr Ivan D’Silva from suburban Bandra was the chief guest who distributed school uniforms to the needy and poor students.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr D’Silva said that the children are the future of our country, and it’s essential to avoid any forms of partiality among the students. He added that instead they should be made aware of the thoughts of leading countrymen, realities, and social concern.
Vasai–Virar corporator and Bahujan Vikas Agady activist Chandrakanth Goravle, corporator Athmaram Patil, St Francis De Sales parish priest Fr Agnello Lawrence, social workers Baliram Patil, Jayaram Kasar and Sanjay Patil distributed study books and writing materials to the students.
Over 525 students of Nallasopara locality were presented with school uniforms, study books, and writing materials on the occasion.
KCA executive committee members Claude D’Silva, Richard Pinto, John Alva, Enez D’Souza, Leena Lobo, Lilly Quadras, Mary Veigas, Lavina Dias, and Hilda D’Souza were present on the dais.
KCA vice-president Gracy Pinto welcomed the gathering. Treasurer Alwyn Francis D’Souza Mudarangady compered the programme.
