Udupi: Fraudster creates fake Facebook account of police officer - Case filed

Udupi, Jan 4: A fake Facebook account of a police inspector was created on Sunday, January 3 by an unidentified person, who used the platform to demand money from the former's friends. CPI Manjunath is the one in whose name the fake Facebook account was created. The accused in this matter reached out to Manjunath's friends and requested them for money.

On realising what had happened, the police officer registered a complaint at the CEN, cyber-crime police station, Udupi.

CPI Manjunath also urged his friends to ignore any such requests made from the fake Facebook account demanding money.

In his complaint, he requested action to be taken against the accused and deletion of the fake social media account.

The investigation in the matter is in progress.
