Bengaluru, Jan 4: Talk about the merger of the JD(S) with the BJP in order to crush the Congress has been making the rounds since sometime. People are heard discussing the prospects of Kumaraswamy announcing this decision soon.
When the rumour that the JD(S) would be joining hands with the BJP filled the air recently, Kumaraswamy did not outright deny the rumours. Instead, he chose to say that any political development can happen at any time, without straightway rubbishing the rumour. Some predominant sources in the party gave out the information that the JD(S) is inclined to become a part of the National Democratic Alliance. After this, rumours have been flying thick and thin about the possibility of merger.
In order to put a halt to these rumours, Kumaraswamy, on Sunday January 3, issued a stern statement in a tweet.
"The BJP has been convinced by the result of the gram panchayat election that all efforts to demolish the JD(S) have failed. Because Of this reason, the BJP has chosen to play out a drama of coalition with the JD(S). That is why they have been spreading imaginary news that the JD(S) would be joining hands with the NDA. All this talk is utter falsehood," Kumaraswamy thundered.
Kumaraswamy recalled that when Deve Gowda stepped down as the Prime minister in the year 1997, top BJP leader, the late A B Vajpayee, had told him that the BJP was prepared to support the Janata Dal. "We refused to be lured then even with the offer of the PM's post then. We never fall to the offer of ministerial positions now," he clarified.
Kumaraswamy said that at present, none of the parties are in need of anyone else's support. "We want the state's development. Gram panchayat election has shown that our workers are ready to work with enthusiasm and vigour. Our only aim now is to strengthen the organizational structure of the party," he stated.
