Bengaluru: ‘Anti-cow slaughter bill to be implemented through ordinance’ - BJP

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jan 3: Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Protection of Cattle Bill - 2020 is the ambitious act of BJP government in Karnataka. The BJP government intends to stop cow slaughter through this bill. For the same reason, despite fierce opposition by the opposition political parties this bill was presented in the legislative assembly and was passed. However, the BJP government does not have a majority in the legislative council. For the same reason, the passing of this bill created ruckus that ended in the sad suicide of deputy chairman S L Dharmegowda.

Now the state BJP government intends to implement this bill through a special ordinance. It is learnt that this bill is sent to the governor for approval.

Nalin Kumar Kateel

State BJP unit has shared this information on its official Twitter handle. The post on its account says, "Honourable chief minister Yediyurappa has implemented the anti-cow slaughter act through an ordinance. In the next assembly session, we will implement a law against Love Jihad" - BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel.

Law minister J C Madhuswamy said that the decision to implement the anti-cow slaughter bill through an ordinance was taken in the cabinet meeting that was held on December 28 at the Vidhana Soudha auditorium under the leadership of chief minister B S Yediyurappa. He had also clarified that even after implementing the bill there will be no issues to sell the meat of buffalo and bull.

Madhuswamy also clarified that certain amendments have been made to the 1964 Act of Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Protection of Cattle. In the 1964 Act, there was a provision to slaughter cows, buffalo and bulls that were aged 12 years and above. According to the recent amendment, slaughtering cows and ox is totally banned. However, bull and buffaloes can be slaughtered after they attain the age of 13 years. We do not prohibit anyone from eating cow meat.

Madhuswamy also said, "In the 1964 anti-cow slaughter Act, there was no provision for punishment with regards to the slaughter of cows and protecting them. Now the authority is given to tahsildar and police. The old law was not stringent. In the present act, if the cows are transported illegally, they will be confiscated. The vehicle that is used to illegally transport cows can be taken back only through a bank guarantee."

Earlier, Nalin had informed that the state government is making all preparations to present the bill against Love Jihad.

Speaking to scribes, Nalin said, "In the special meeting that was held at Belagavi, the discussion was held on the subjects of banning cow slaughter and Love Jihad issue. Anti-cow slaughter act is already implemented. Action will be taken against Love Jihad in the coming days."

Is it you decide when we should sell our animal even though it has stopped giving milk?
Is it you decide which community should eat beef and which not?
Is it you decide we export beef from India and we should not eat Indian Beef?
Why your government is allowing to import Australia UK beef?

The law minister Madhuswamy said here " We do not prohibit anyone from eating cow meat." Same way, in Maharashtra carrying and eating cow meat brought from other states is allowed after high court intervention. One can get by home delivery corned beef by Amazon and also at Crawford market in Mumbai. Also, Mangalore people can go to Kasaragod or Goa, if they want to eat cow meat. Bangalore people can go to Kerala border by vehicle, if interested in cow meat.

Showing love for cow in one part of the country and allowing in other parts is nothing but farce and mockery. Goa, J&K, West Bengal, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Sikkim, cow slaughter is freely allowed. In Assam market, I saw bodies of slaughtered cows and pigs, ready for customers to pick the nicest parts of their choice. Why BJP, BD, VHP, Swamis, Sadhus and other cow lovers do not go there and tell the govts to stop cow slaughter if they really worship cow as mother ? Also, when recently Forensic Science Laboratory inspected, out of nine consignments for export of beef, they found cow meat in seven consignments. Whether you believe or not, clandestinely cow meat is exported from India. Majority of the exporters are Hindus and Jains.

There are stringent anti cow slaughter legislation in my state of Maharashtra... There are indication that a similar ordinance will be passed in Karnataka..... Goa stock of cattle, were all routed from the biggest cattle market located in Belgaum.... This tiny state, along with neighboring Kerala, is definitely going to face severe scarcities after the law comes in force in Karnataka....

If these kind of bills can be passed for the political benefits , then why don’t the government bans Alcohol & Cigarettes which are more dangerous to health. People of Karnataka/India must understand that these are only political gimmick just to divide the country. If the government can be so emotional for the sentiments of one community, then they must review the drawbacks and damages happening due to alcohol & cigarette consumption for the same community.
Also, there is no updated bills or laws to punish rapist instantly- proving human (female) life is worse than animals (cow).

This cow slaughter ordinance and impending Love Jihad law are to be used by the BJP govt on those who do not vote them like it is using ED and IT to raid on opposition. All laws, rules, bills, ordinances and abrogation this govt has passed through unlawful manner are for its own ulterior selfish interest.

My humble request to BJP Government, "Please give Rs. 5,000/= per month for every cow or Bull or Calf or Buffalo as a compensation and living cost.

Like in Utter Pradesh they give Caved Vaccine for all cows, Calfs, and Buffalos first. For citizens, it will be last.

By banning the slaughter (which includes cows & bull meat also, as per gau rakshaks), they aim to get cattle at dirt cheap rates for Indian beef exporters. Most of these beef exporters are said to be generous donors to the party!. By the way, will the govt compensate to the farmers as they would be forced to abandon the animals, without any option for sale and recovery of some money for aged animals? We may also see a disaster with millions of animals starving at Gau Shala's, suffering with disease and a slow & painful death.

Nobody is protesting ??? Not even the bars that served the delicacy ??

Meaning people are ready to serve mutton, that costs four times more ?? Imagine one visit to the bar will cost how much more once the ordinance is passed. Excellent. Remember, Chicken can't replace beef, only those who have eaten both will know this well. Minority will care less because one section will favour Pork and the other have goats reared by themselves.

Good. The axe should hit your own leg. Then only you get to know the pain of cutting a tree.

A vast majority of opposition leaders are devout Hindus more than BJP leaders and are opposing this bill from all houses, levels and majority of people then what is the problem with this govt to be so adamant about it. Moreover from Hindu religious point of view there is no restriction except from communal point of view to further deprive minorities from food choices to succumb and oblige BJP. But with ordinance it could be imposed selectively and clean chit to those who have obliged
BJP. Why cow slaughter is still legally permissible in govt agencies and been exported. This will only sky rocket food inflation for every body vegans and non vegans with already ever increasing fuel prices which will multiple and quadruple all prices.

But mind you the animal has to be 13 years old buffalo or bull. So what is the quality of that meat and amount of energy consumption to cook it. This comes with lot of fine prints between lines and strings attached giving complete power to the govt and its vigilantes to implicate under ordinance which is same as selective emergency

Jossey the problem is these fellows do not wait to see whether it is cow or bull or buffalo and that is the problem their main aim is to politicise the matter and inject hatred into the public by the way the beef exporters are of which community, and i think they are in one way helping these exporters because if u ban this the so called animals can b supplied to them which in favour will get big donations
