Moodbidri, Jan 3: The district Kambala committee had decided to hold seven day time and if necessary, two days of Kambala. This decision was taken in the meeting that was held on Saturday, January 2 at Samaja Mandira here presided over by district Kambala committee president P R Shetty.
It was decided to hold Kambala at Hokkadigoli on January 30, Aikala on February 6, Vamanjoor Tiruvail Guthu on February 13, Moodbidri Koti Chennaya on February 20, Miyaru on February 27, Bangra Kulur on March 6 and Venur Permuda on March 20. Bangadi Kambala will be organized at the end. The date for this will be decided later.
Naveenchandra Alva, Yajamana of Vamanjoor Tiruvail Guthu Kambala said, "We are going to hold Kambala this year. We have submitted an appeal in this regard to the deputy commissioner. He has asked us to organize the Kambala following all Covid rules."
Honorary president of district Kambala committee Bhaskar S Kotian said that it is possible to complete all Kambala events within the specified time if everyone gives priority to time. All have to cooperate in this regard.
Former secretary of district Kambala committee Vijayakumar Kanginamane opined that Covid test should be made compulsory for those who will come to watch the Kambala sport.
Barkur Shantaram Shetty, Mala Dinesh, Rohit Hegde, Chandrahasa Sanil and J Sadananda Shetty took part in the meeting. Rajiv Shetty compered the programme.
When discussion was held about forming new committee, it was opined that now new committee formation is not required and it is better to elect the new office bearers after the completion of this year's Kambala events.
