Mangaluru, Jan 2: City mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar, inaugurated the online services initiated at the city corporation for the payment of water charges, obtaining licence for new trade, or renewal of existing one, on Friday January 1. The inaugural was done at the auditorium of the city corporation.
Speaking on the occasion, the mayor said that water charges can be paid online to the State Bank of India. He added that 'MCC trade licence' app has been introduced for the trade licences.
MCC Deputy commissioner Dr Santosh Kumar, said that water charges can be paid by logging in to the city corporation website, www.mangalurucity.mrc.gov.in and then clicking on online water bill payment. The charges can be paid by using UPI, Rupay, credit cards or debit cards," he explained. He said that there are 93,000 home water users in the city and MPW workers visit the houses and hand over bills. One worker for each of the 60 wards has been appointed and arrangements have been made to issue water bill on the spot every month. He stated that by using the QR code in the possession of workers, water bill payment can be made.
City corporation commissioner Akshy Sridhar, stated that State Bank of India and Canara Bank joined hands in converting water charges payment and trade licence online. He said that with this, people will save on time and avoid the need to visit offices. He warned the people to get their illegal water connections if any regularised failing which they will have to pay huge fine.
Deputy mayor Vedavathi, chief whip Premananda Shetty, standing committee chairpersons, Poornima, Sharath, Jagadish Shetty and Kiran Kumar as well as environment engineer, Madhu, were present.
