Calangute, Dec 31: The influx of tourists on the Calangute-Candolim beach has turned out to be a difficult task for the Drishti Marine lifeguards. Despite the repeated warnings from the lifeguards, the domestic tourists continue to venture into deep waters.

There were also two incidents of drowning reported along the beach stretch. In the first one, a tourist from a group of 10 persons from Hyderabad who drifted into deeper waters was rescued by two lifeguards. In the second incident, a Maharashtra tourist was caught in a rip current. He was rescued by lifeguards who brought him ashore using a rescue tube and board.
