Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 27: For the first time since June this year when coronavirus cases began to peak, Udupi district on Sunday December 27 reported just one case, while Dakshina Kannada too continued to maintain low daily count with just 18 cases reported from across the district.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 4,51,657 samples have been tested so far, out of which 4,18,882 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 32,775, out of which only 401 are currently active.
As many as 34 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 31,642.
The district has so far recorded 732 deaths due to coronavirus.
Though the cases are on a decline, the district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 19,50,478 as fine in 18,296 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 2,80,528 samples have been tested so far, out of which 2,57,521 have turned out to be negative.
Only one case was reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 23,007, out of which only 60 are currently active.
Five patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 22,759.
The person who tested positive on Sunday is in home isolation, and is asymptomatic.
The person belongs to Udupi.
The district has reported 188 deaths due to coronavirus so far.
