Mangaluru: MLA U T Khader seeks reason behind govt’s decision to withdraw night curfew

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Dec 26: Former minister and MLA UT Khader on Saturday December 26 demanded the state government to come out with clarity on the decision on night curfew and if the reason to withdraw the same was scientific or political.

Addressing a press here, Khader said, "The BJP-led state government has withdrawn the order three times and created confusion among people. What is the logic behind this? The government should clarify the technical committees’ report on containing the spread of the second wave of Covid-19 virus."

He also said people in the state are confused on the contradictory statements of the health minister and chief minister. "Do not put the public in dilemma due to your difference in opinion."

Khader also demanded that the government should also come out with clarity on the administration of Covid-19 vaccine. “Has the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization given permission? From which company you are availing the vaccines and what is the cost? The state government should create awareness about this. Will it benefit 100% or 95%?” He also said while purchasing vaccines, the government should make wise decisions.

He also sought the state government to bring out the research reports on the Covid-19 pandemic which haunted thousands of people in the state.

Stating that mutation of virus can take place anywhere, Khader said, "Mutation of virus can happen in any country. What is the role and precautionary measures taken by the state government to contain the spread of virus?”

Taking a dig at the district administration, Khader said, “Forget about RT-PCR test, there is no proper thermal screening facility at Mangaluru Airport.” He said that this issue will be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner.

Khader also alleged that the state government has withdrawn the order on free treatment for Covid-19 patients at private hospitals under Ayushman Bharat. What is the role of the government if the second wave of Covid-19 explodes? Hence, the government should pass an order that the Covid-19 patients should be treated at private hospitals free of cost under Ayushman Bharat during the next wave.”

He also slammed the education department for lacking clarity on opening of schools and online classes. “It should be clear if the government will implement the National Education Policy in the next year.”

Khader also alleged that the law and order situation was completely deteriorated in the district. "Cases of murder, attempt to murder and dacoit has continued in the district. The police department should curb this.” He also urged the police to arrest the accused in the stabbing case at Kuthar at the earliest so that such things would not repeat.

On the withdrawal of night curfew, Khader said, “When the Christian community members approached the government, they just relaxed the time during night curfew. But when the Bar Owners’ Association and businessmen approached the government, the curfew itself was withdrawn.”
